On February 23rd, 2014, we set off on a new tome travel of Simmone Howell’s ‘Girl Defective’. Fortunately for us, Simmone had already mapped out the locations on Google Maps. You can view this here. This map, combined with a re-read and a very helpful list that Simmone kindly provided us with, allowed us to map out Girl Defective in photo form. We are very happy to share it with you all.
‘Nancy steers us to Acland Street past toxic-tanned girls and money-boys in polo shirts with collars turned up and European ladies of a certain age, gold chain settling in their creasy necks.’ – pg 202
You know how you can live somewhere your whole life, yet never really see anything? And then you meet someone who is travelling and realise they know more about the state where you live than you do? Maybe it’s just me…but I have barely seen anything that Melbourne has to offer. And one of the reasons why these book tours are so great is that they give you the opportunity to see new places. Acland Street is one of those places. I thought it was great, a buzz of electricity, so many good places to eat and browse…crap parking but what’s new? I got a falafel wrap from some store that I can’t remember. It was tasty. It was also a really nice day so it was great for a stroll. I would recommend a visit to Acland street if you’re in the area and have not yet frequented it.
